Other Outdoor Offerings
Crabbing & Fishing
Poquoson is known for some of the best fishing in Virginia! According to local Whitehouse Cove Marina, common saltwater fish you can catch in the area include striped bass, flounder, spot, croaker and sea trout. For freshwater enthusiasts, catfish, bass and panfish are commonly found in the bay’s small tributaries. In addition to these popular choices, Poquoson is also home to a wide variety of other less common species such as herring, perch and bluegill. If you want to set up some (non-commercial) crab traps, head out from Messick Point.
